Social Media – ABA Marketing Conference welcomes back Virginia Miracle.

August 13, 2009

This year I am very pleased to welcome back to the ABA Marketing conference Virginia Miracle. Virginia works as the SVP, Head of Digital Strategy, for 360 Digital Influence at Ogilvy Public Relations. She is very passionate about the social web and word of mouth marketing influencing strategies for a variety of global brands. In 2008, many of you might remember the great presentation from Virginia – Create a Complete Word of Mouth Strategy. This year she will return for a Learning Lab on Accessing the Energy of Social Media. Knowing this is a top of mind subject for us all, I encourage you to join us this year in San Antonio.

  1. Thanks, Eric. Last year we had a great session, but needed more time to actually work through some suggested pilot programs for folks in the audience. The set up for our session next month will directly try to address that.

I’m dusting off my cowboy hat and looking forward to seeing “y’all” soon.

  2. As many marketers are being pressed to generate greater results with a more limited marketing budget this year, it’s encouraging to see that social media and word of mouth marketing will be discussed at this year’s marketing conference. These efforts can be more cost-effective than traditional initiatives like advertising, but there’s still a lot of misunderstanding around the strategic implementation of non-traditional efforts.

I hope this session, and others at the conference are able to help marketers see that these initiatives are important, but must be connected to an overall strategy in order to be effective.

  3. Brady, couldn’t agree more. It’s funny this morning my CEO, Ray Davis called me to his office to discuss this very topic. He shared a YouTube link with me and said: “we need to refocus our Creative Strategies Group to take full advantage of this”. That gets me energized to hear that come from my CEO and fits into the direction our marketing strategies are headed for our bank.

Feel free to share this link with your team and CEO. I look forward to sharing ideas and hearing other success stories with all the bank marketers in a couple weeks.
